Andrew Born 1998 Dx Various but essentially ASD

When Andrew was a little over two years of age, he seemed to stop adding new words to his vocabulary.  He had hit all his milestones early and walked at 9 months.  He was curious, engaged and a very happy baby.  Then something changed.

We took him to several specialists who all gave him a different diagnosis, but all were on the 'spectrum'.  It was devastating to us.  Several of the 'experts' suggested that we just put him on Ritalin and Prozac (at the age of 3!) and hope for the best.  They had said that Andrew would probably never talk and as an only child we should think about institutions instead of college.

I started reading information on the internet and found several articles about the gluten free/casein free diet.  We took Andrew off of milk first and two weeks later, he started speaking in 2-3 word sentences.

That was the beginning of healing Andrew.

Since that time, we have implemented a biomedical treatment plan including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and supplements, all making a positive impact on his system. We have also done several other therapies that have helped bring our son back - Occupational Therapy, Verbal Behavior, Speech Therapy, AIT, Cranio-sacral therapy, NAET, CES and Fast Forward.

We have also chelated Andrew with various agents (oral DMSA, DMSA/ALA, MT Promoter and TD DMPS) and we have seen improvements as we have gotten the metals out.   I think the most important advice I would give to any family is to heal the gut, put good vitamins and supplements back into their body, get the metals out and get them therapy that will help them to develop skills that were lost.

Next week, Andrew goes back to school and he is looking forward to being in the second grade. He reads, writes and has many good friends.

It has been a long and sometimes difficult journey, but after four years, our son is conversational and tells us how much he loves us.  What more could you ask for?
