Darryl Born 2000, Dx Autism 2004 Update December 2005
We have now finished our 5 week trial of MB12.. No bad effects.. I think it took about 3 weeks to get going and then we got better use of language ? more words..then better context ..and then we got the singing..! Social side is a bit better too - playing with his brother more now.
So all in all we are going to keep going
Jean and Dr Heard both thought a trial of Kirkman DMG would be good now.
Seems to be the ones that do well on MB12 might do well on this.He had one capsule and BINGO !
So we joined in ....Thomas went to ....left a blank for him he said 'the seaside'.....I said to see his friend....blank....he said 'Cranky the crane'...this went on for 15 min..
Talk about us finding the wonder drug ! Light switch is on. I was doing the happy dance all around the house J
Still MB12, folinic acid and DMG all work together in the methylation pinwheel. Now we just need to know the amounts. We know MB12 amount as this is based on weight. We know Folinic amount because of his lab test results, But there you go..so any little viruses hiding away had better watch it over Christmas - you need to give it 5 times a day so waiting until he finishes school. Will update again next year and let you know how that went |
December 2005 with brother James |
Well he came home on the last day of school and had been awarded a certificate for excellence. Most improved child in the class...Well there are only 6 kids in there but I was very happy.
We tried a 5 day course of the antiviral drug aciclovir. The first 3 days there was nothing happening good or bad. On the night of the third day he was sick and bringing up plenty of what can only be described a plenty of mucus. His face was flushed. That was the sickness over and done with. But then we had the next few days left of the course. During this time he was very hard to cope with - really bad behaviour...swinging , jumping, miserable , no concentration and I was at the end of my tether ! I had to call in reinforcements to help watch him 24/7 as he was upto all his tricks - flooding bathroom , smearing bathroom products..etc.. but I persisted to the end. As soon as we stopped them he was fine again...the spots around his mouth (which may be related to herpes virus did go but its too soon to se if they will come back...) Would I try it again ? - maybe if hell freezes over !
Jan 06. We have introduced LDN (low dose naltrexone) Its to help the immune system. Darryl is never ill...never gets a cold or a runny nose..etc.. His system is in a hyper immune state..and needs adusting to a "normal state"..
The LDN came in a tube from the Breakspear Hospital. Ideally we had to give him 0.5mls which is 5 little lines rubbed into his skin between 9.00 and 12.00 at night. We worked up slowly 1 line.. then 2 lines ..then 3...nothing was happening - good or bad. When we reached 5 lines ...Darryl developed a very high fever, lethargy, runny nose and a cough. This is not like him.. We were keeping upto date with the LDN trial which was being done by Dr McCandless on the LDN yahoo group. The advice was to keep going ..we had managed to switch immune system on. After 3 days we were worried about fever which was over 100c. but held off giving him any medication - after all this is what we wanted to see. On the 6th day of fever we abandoned the LDN..and within a couple of days he was back to normal. We saw some improvements in language and sociability so put him back on it at just one line. I do think its excellent stuff. I think the fever may have been a dormant virus being activated..I cant prove it. Still 6 days of high fever is bound to kill anything off !

Well we are close to starting Chelation now so looking at his overall supplements. We have just added B6 in P5P form from metabolics. Magnesium EAP2 from Biocare Magnesium Ascorbate by biocare (vitamin C) but with no citrus Repeat blood test shows his ferritin (iron stores) has improved but is still low so adding in Spatone iron Sachets - very absorbable in a water sachet. Added Super E - Vitamin E - Zinc Monomethionine by Vitamin Research Products.
What we have learned is than some of these supplements we tried at the start of the programme which had him reacting with diarrohea and hyperactivity he can now tolerate well. Poos are now super dooper. I thought MB12 were making them a bit looser but now we are solid again. Speech is really progressing now..." Darryl and James go and play in my bedroom" "I want to go to the wacky warehouse" .
We have repeated the amino acid test...Things have moved around a bit so we have ordered the new customised formula. It showed he definately needs more B6 Magnesium and Zinc..so glad about that as we have just added them in prior to getting the results..That Jean is a mind reader ! Also low in tryptophan so shovelling in the bananas and turkey.
We have had 4 nights of him sleeping through the night ...first time in 4 years .
He still has no sense of danger which is the most annoying thing because I cant leave him alone for a second....maybe one day he will be winning a gold medal doing the luge event..!
