Feingold Diet

Back

What does it involve?

The Feingold Program eliminates several groups of synthetic food additives and temporarily removes a group of foods we refer to as "natural salicylates." This group includes aspirin, several common fruits, and a few vegetables and other foods. The Program also eliminates the synthetic sweetener aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal).

Later, the natural salicylates can be added back and tested to see if they are tolerated. Most people can eventually go back to eating at least some of the salicylates.

The Feingold Program also eliminates most fragrances and encourages the finding of non-food products that are free of the unwanted additives.

How might it help?

Improvements are often seen in all three areas of behaviour, learning and general health.
