Keep a Log
Consider starting a log or diary. Make notes on what your child eats, any behaviour's physical issues. Patterns can emerge over time and provide you with sound information on which to focus and judge biomedical interventions. For example:-
- Does your child crave certain types of food? Make notes on what they eat and drink
- Do certain behaviours only take place at particular times of the day (or night)?
- Does your child ever get very red looking ears, or often only one ear?
- Do they have skin problems? Eczema? Transient rashes?
- How often do they move their bowels?
- Is it normal poop? Smelly, liquid, hard, floating, odd colours?
- Sensory issues, what kicks them off and what calms them down (noise, pressure, touch)
- Sleeps patterns (or not as the case may be!)
- If they wake at night, is it around the same time each night? Are they anxious or playful?
It might take you a while to figure out exactly how you make the most of the information collected, but be assured, you will find it useful, as will any practitioner you choose to work with.
TIP: You could write your diary on line and then it's harder to loose. 'Blogs' can be set so only you can view them. On AOL, they are called 'Journals'; on MSN they are called 'Spaces'.
